I asked my son JJ the other day, "are you going to play Joseph in the Nativity Play" and he said, "I asked the teacher, can I be Joseph? and she said ,'No! you're going to be a shepherd'". Then he asked me "Mummy, what is a shepherd? what does a shepherd do?." It made me smile.
It turns out he's going to be one of the musicians in the play. He has to wear party/fancy clothes, but all he has is Pirate costumes and somehow I don't think the teachers would appreciate a little Pirate up on stage saying "Ahoy therrrre! Jesus is herrrre matey!" So I'll probably put something together for him, although the only thing I can think that a 'musician' would wear is a shiny, glittery waistcoat, and maybe some glasses and a funny hat....like an younger version of Elton John.
